Topo Designs Trip Pack

Topo Designs Trip Pack is a compact and light backpack with a distinct design – $89

Topo Designs from Colorado, USA, sure is an interesting company. With an unique approach to design, they create useful bags, accessories and clothes that I believe appeals to a lot of modern, active people. I really enjoy their choice of color variations that each product is available in. Usually they go for at least one or two versions with solid, dark colors that attract less attention. Besides that they often offer a few versions with a very sleek combination of colors.

The Trip Pack is my favorite of all their bags, but I can see myself finding good use for many of them. If you like to keep your gear compact without losing too much in functionality then this is a bag for you. The Trip Pack has a 8.4 L capacity and features an external zip pocket as well as an internal sleeve for a small computer or tablet. The Trip Pack is available in three color variations: all black, navy blue/red and navy blue/green.

Incase ICON Pack

Incase ICON Pack is a modern, feature-complete backpack for tech travelers  – $199.95

The San Francisco-based company Incase have been making useful tech accessories for about 15 years now, and they are just getting better at what they do year after year. I’ve long been impressed by their clean and modern looking backpacks, but they really took this product line to another level recently with the launch of the ICON backpack series.

The bigger ICON Pack can store up to 20 L and is packed with all the different types of pockets and compartments you can possibly need. It was designed for carrying tech devices so it has dedicated compartments for a 15″ laptop, a full size iPad and a mobile phone. Other features include several organizer pockets, a padded back panel with integrated air-flow channels, durable nylon material construction and a handy side pocket with a cable port for headphones or a charging cable.

There is also a smaller version called ICON Slim Pack available for those who want a slimmer, lighter and cheaper backpack, but with the same look and feel. It has a 16.5 L capacity and costs $149.95.

Dark Energy Reservoir

Dark Energy Reservoir is a powerful external USB battery pack in a sleek design – $129

Our mobile devices make our life so much easier and more fun, but without power they’re totally worthless. When at home or at work most of us are able to keep our phones and tablets charged up, but power isn’t always as easy to find while on the go. You can always bring a wall charger and hope to find an outlet somewhere but why not bring your own little box of power along instead?

The Dark Energy Reservoir isn’t the first device of it’s kind but it’s one of the best portable battery packs I have come across so far, and also one that I use myself on a daily basis. It launched as a Kickstarter project in early 2013 but it is now available to anyone to purchase. The Reservoir has a very nice and slim design, excellent build quality and it can recharge an iPhone 5S almost five times in a row.

I keep one lightning cable (to charge my iPhone and iPad mini), one mini-USB cable (to charge the battery pack itself) and a Dark Energy Reservoir in my bag at all times. This little device has been a blessing to me while using my phone as a personal WiFi hotspot at coffee shops, on long flights and on hikes far away from power outlets.
